Kicking laziness

I feel that Instagram has made me lazy. It’s so instant in fact that I think I’ve forgotten what it’s like to put effort and care in to taking photos and writing about the things I enjoy (even though I’ve never really been very good at the latter). Not that its all instagram’s fault mind you, I have always been the procrastinating type. But, I’m beginning to remember the almost therapeutic feeling of taking the time to create a post, and write about things that I am passionate about. So, here goes!

Getting back in to drawing has been a slow and steady thing. Even now I still sometimes struggle with it. I am getting there though, I even have a few things on my etsy shop at he moment; Here

These are a couple little things I’ve been creating at the moment:

also, I’m thinking of starting to sew again….with a machine! Dun dun duuuuun! As soon as saving for my birthday trip to Paris is over, I have decided to buy myself a sewing machine. Currently I’m torn between three different ones.

And this one

The first two are probably the more sensible choices….the third I just like because its pink! I haven’t used a sewing machine in a long time. While attending a girls school for a couple of years I learnt to use a sewing machine and an over locker, and made simple things like skirts, cushions and tote style bags. Not that I really member any of it! I usually hand sew now, and it’s usually only when a button falls off a jacket or a hole appears in a pocket and I HAVE to put needle to thread, in fear of losing my favourite lip balm that is pocketed every morning. My aim is to one day be good enough to make my own clothes. Then I won’t feel silly for wanting such specific items anymore, I’ll be able to sit down and make them myself in whatever fabric I like!
